From Yase, Kyoto to Hieizan (half day)
Take the Eizan Cable Car and Ropeway from Yase, Kyoto, which includes the largest height difference of any cable car in Japan, and then change to the ropeway to continue to Mt. Hiei. At Enryakuji Temple, a world heritage site that takes the entirely of Mt. Hiei as its grounds, you will visit the To-do area that has been the center of faith here for 1,200 years.

From Sakamoto, the gateway town, to Hieizan (half day)
This course heads to Mt. Hiei from Sakamoto, the gateway town to Enryakuji Temple located on the west bank of Lake Biwa. After a circuit of the To-do area, the beating heart of Enryakuji Temple, you will return to Sakamoto. Take in the townscape with its tasteful stone walls and other historical sites.
Route around Hieizan (full day)
Enryakuji Temple is a world heritage site with grounds that cover all of Mt. Hiei. This course gives you a full day to explore the 1200 year history of the temple and the resplendent nature in which it is couched. You will arrive on Mt. Hiei from Yase in Kyoto, and use the shuttle bus to travel around the mountainside. The return journey uses the Sakamoto Cable Railway, taking you down to Sakamoto in Otsu which has flourished as the gateway town to Enryakuji Temple.
